THE BOUNDARIES BETWEEN ETHICS AND ETIQUETTE

There’s who, eventually, confuse the concept of ethics with the concept of etiquette. Confronted with this question, here’s our opinion:

1. Ethics is a common reflection about the man’s behavior of bad or good perspective.  This means that is a philosophy branch that cares about moral values. While judgments and thoughts are considered right or wrong by a certain person or people in the society. It is overcoat about a values theory (Axiology) and that’s why, in our perception there’s a practical dimension useless, when confronted with real situations of life.

Example:

a) if a person is in a situation that she needs to save five people or save just one person, what will be the right dealing? note that in this situation the value of life is in cause.

b) If I public Oregon must decide if applies funds to save a bank to avoid collapse injuring the depositors, or must him apply these funds on financing of public education’s, what will be the right dealing? Note that the security of the depositors funds are in caused by one side and by other the public education value.

2. The etiquette, by his turn, are principles and rules of social familiarity that make the communication and interpersonal interaction easier.

3. To the etiquette concept there are three fundamental points that guide to healthy interpersonal relations:

a) good manners: Way of acting that gives privilege to the simplicity in the practicality, having as affect the heath protection self-esteem and other persons feelings.

b) Courtesy: Friendly, polite and elegant way of thinking, talk and act guided on essence by a positive attitude before life and a mentality focused on abundance idea (imagine the universe wilderness) and all the restrained resources – The sages believe that the human being is a reply of a Cosmo in miniature.

c) The content of etiquette rules is informed by ethical values, as a result of social, cultural and intellectual evolution that basically configures the traditions and the education of a nation. however, in a practical application of etiquette ‘s rules, contain the neutrality in an ethical point of view.

4. The fact of a person understand and fulfill with the commands of ethical rules, does not allow conclude that we are dealing with a good or a bad person.

5. Only means that is a cordial and friendly person and knows how interact in a positive way. It’s open to the dialogue in foreign culture.

Ex: it’s not possible assess the kindness or badness just because doesn’t greet other people, doesn’t say please or thank you. Only means that this person has an aggressive personality (less friendly).

6. It’s more easy and we feel more motivated to interact and build a positive relationship with the person that greets the others, say please when ask something and in the end says thank you. This doesn’t mean that this person is good or bad, only means that has an assertive and friendly personality.

7. We finish saying that realizing that etiquette practice doesn’t determine if the person is good or bad, Allow us to understand that they are accomplishment rules merely voluntary. But helps to neutralize the bad attitude of people motivated by fear and jealousy on interpersonal relations context.
